About Us

Jan 1985 - Present: Webmaster, Designer, Illustrator, Animator.
Independent studio in web site design, animation, illustration, and typography; my services include complete production from concept to delivery, art&design created to client specifications, and creative consulting. Experienced with budgets, schedules, ISPs, service bureaus and printers, as well as project management, print buying, and art-directing other freelancers. Since 1992, I've worked on many web sites and 2 CD-ROMs. Over the years, I have created advertising, direct marketing, educational illustration, and technical/medical illustration. Some projects have been done solo while others as part of a team. My various roles have been from Creative Director and Art Director, to Animator and Illustrator, as well as Designer. Specialties are animation, interactives, and cartooning.

Jan. 1992 - Present: Designer, Illustrator, and Artist for Freelance Hotline of Chicago and ArtStaff of Minnesota "Graphic Firefighter" often called when Art Directors are in trouble and swamped with work. I've honed my skills at quickly assessing the needs of diverse projects on several different operating systems, and then creating successful solutions. To do this, I'm skilled in many graphic software programs, including Quark, Pagemaker, Freehand, Illustrator, Corel Draw, Photoshop, Director, and Powerpoint. I've been called in at 7:30am to create slide presentations that have to make an evening flight, and I've worked on longer catalog design projects that take months of focused effort. Experienced at meeting corporate graphic guidelines, picking up where others leave off, and creating original design.

Dec. 1996 - Jun. 1997: Web Site Designer for StarTribune Contracted by the StarTribune's Marketing Unit to create the Apartments Online section of their site. I worked on a team as the Designer creating the graphic interface and basic HTML coding. Close daily interaction with UNIX database programmers. Needed to focus various levels of client needs as well as design a easy-to use interface for a huge and dynamic set of information (i.e.; each web site user can save custom criteria and search a database of thousands of pieces of information that changes daily). I also designed the Lifelong Learning section of the StarTribune site as well as created several banner ads and a Pointcast commercial. For one of their clients, Northland Inn, I created an interactive Shockwave piece using Macromedia's Director software.

Jul. 1996 - Dec. 1996: Web Site Designer for Campbell Mithun Esty Contracted by the CME agency to created a web site for DOW Brand's ZIPLOC bags. I designed the site from rough sketches to final completion, programmed the HTML, created the graphics and managed a CGI programmer to incorporated some custom interactivity. Like many of my projects, this involved the use of several software programs, including BBEdit, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Quark Xpress.
